The weimar republic was beset with serious problems from the outset that led many germans either to withhold support from the new parliamentary democracy or to seek actively to destroy it. To escape the chaos of berlin, the parliament moved to weimar on february 11th, 1919, the new parliament elected ebert as president on the new german republic ebert’s problems did not end with the crushing of the spartacists in march 1919, what was left of the german communists attempted another takeover.
With the abdication of kaiser wilhelm a new government was formed in the town of weimar (as berlin was too unstable) known as the weimar republic thus a new democracy was born. The weimar republic (german: weimarer republik [ˈvaɪmaʁɐ ʁepuˈbliːk] ( listen)) is an unofficial, historical designation for the german state during the years 1919 to 1933 the name derives from the city of weimar, where its constitutional assembly first took place.
Problems facing the weimar republic, 1919-1933 the weimar republic faced opposition from the outset in 1919, after the signing of the treaty of versailles economic hardship affected the whole nation and led to uprisings and assassinations. In my opinion the weimar republic was quite successful in the way that it helped germany to overcome many problems that i have mentioned above although a lot of the population was not overly pleased by some of the decisions that they made.
Weimar germany faced many problems during 1919-1923, in order to evaluate just how the government managed to survive one must consolidate how each problem was over come between 1919 and 1923 the weimar republic faced repeated political and economic crises. 1 analyse the problems of the weimar republic after the first world war, kaiser resigned due to november revolution and later on, in 1919, a federal republic met in weimar, germany to replace the imperial form of government, which is known as weimar republic this republic lasted until 1933, and was destroyed by hitler it went to three stages. The weimar republic faced many problems perhaps the greatest danger was 'the weakness within' - the constitution gave the president, the states and the army too much power, whilst proportional voting meant that the reichstag was divided and weak. The weimar republic experienced severe problems from its start ebert , the first head of the weimar republic , and his government were in a very difficult position those on the left – communists and the like – had no respect for the government and the success of lenin in russia had boosted their self-belief. The hyperinflation episode in the weimar republic in the early 1920s was not the first or even the most severe instance of inflation in history (the hungarian pengő and zimbabwean dollar, for example, have been even more inflated.
The weimar republic is the name given to the german government between the end of the imperial period (1918) and the beginning of nazi germany (1933) the weimar republic (and period) draws its name from the town of weimar in central germany where the constitutional assembly met political turmoil.
The weimar republic can not be seen as solely indebted to the severe economic problems faced during the period of its rule, but consequently it was the economic issues that became a footstep to the ultimate demise of the republic.
